Review of the monograph: Gorokhova A.M. Representation of the British National Character in the Paroemiological Fund of the English Language. Moscow, 2020. 208 p. (in Russ.)
The reviewed monograph studies the paroemiological representation and the associative paroemiosemantic mapping of the basic components of the British national character. For the first time, a detailed mental map of the British national character was developed, which is based on the mental mapping of the paroemiological representation of ethno-specific traits. Further, a distinction between the nuclear and peripheral components of the British national character was made. Moreover, a universal interdisciplinary binary system was developed for visualizing the components of national identity in the form of molecular and planetary models. In her analysis of linguistic material, the author of the monograph applied the method of mental mapping, which demonstrates the complex structure of individual constructs and the final model of national character.
